Mutant or human? (if mutant, what power?): Mutant. Essentially, Shawn could tell you that the sky was orange and you'd believe it. He could lie and lie and lie and has constantly weaseled his way out of things by using his ability to do so. Unfortunately, this ability doesn't work on other mutants- although that doesn't stop him from trying. In addition, he possesses an inherent ability to tell whenever someone else is telling the truth or not, and also has a natural knowledge of all spoken languages.
Backstory (five to seven sentences): Shawn grew up in a quiet corner of Oakland, California- if such a thing existed. It didn't take long to weed him out from all the ordinary kids: he was shipped off to South Africa at age eight, where he could be better taken care of and where he wasn't a liability, since it was discovered early on that his 'gifts' didn't work on other mutants. He grew up in South Africa, mostly, exhibiting little to no desire to go back to California although he frequently left the school grounds to test his ability on the susceptible locals. After he graduated he joined the Underground and he makes himself useful where he can, taking on missions here and there when he isn't busy occupying himself with various one-night stands. His track record- made possible by his inherent ability to spill absolute bullshit out of his mouth and still get a girl (or a guy) to believe it- would put Casanova to shame.
